Why did I chose this topic?

I have been interested in security for a long time ago, I found this branch of computer science interesting because it helps prevents crimes and protect others from possible dangers. In this career, I think it is important to combine the role of protection and security with the understanding of the digital enviroment to help others in real life aspects.

What is Computer Forensic?

Computer forensics, is a branch of computer science that helps form specialist focused in the investigation and appliance of different methods to analyze, recolect, and preserve digital evidence so that they can present it in a legal process. This way the information preserves the integrity of the evidence and can be applied to resolve crimes in the digital world.

Main Objectives:

  • Recolect digital evidence from electronic devices
  • Preserve data integrity to prevent possible alterations during investigations such as identity theft, fraud, cyberattacks, ...
  • Analyze files, logs and system activities
  • Data loss recovery
  • Last but not least, present this evidence to legal and judicial processes and reinforce the cibersecurity

Importance in modern society

Nowadays, almost everything is connected to an electronic device and we need to ensure that our digital information is safe and preserved. Computer forensic enforce the law helping detect all types of cybercrimes, responding effectively to digital incidents and improving the cybersecurity to prevent cyberattacks to protect our information.
